Deus Ex Musica
Deus Ex Musica is founded on the belief that sacred music can be an extraordinary resource for Christians as they grow in knowledge, faith, and discipleship. For this to happen, Christians need to experience sacred music in new and different ways: not just by experiencing it within corporate worship, but also by engaging with it through processes of listening and discussion.
Oriented toward this goal of greater and deeper understand through the medium of music, The Composers Project (which included Rodriguez) featured nine brand-new compositions based on three famous psalms (13, 57, and 148), set to music independently by a diverse group of composers hailing from different Christian traditions. The performances are followed by an informal time of fellowship and discussion, led by an ecumenical group of clergy and teachers, in which participants will have the opportunity to engage in meaningful conversation with Christians from a variety of backgrounds.
Josh Rodriguez is the co-artistic director of Deus Ex Musica, along with founder Devlyn Case. Rodriguez also serves as editor for the Deus Ex Musica blog.
